In an attempt to save both herself and the person she had ran into, Alison had tried to grab hold of a tree branch. Unfortunately, (or perhaps fortunately, as there were no branches within sight that would have sustained their weight) she was prevented from doing so by the person who had locked her into an embrace. Although she had prepared herself to hit the ground in mere seconds, she was quite surprised at finding herself airborne. She struggled to see the envisage of the stranger who had taken the liberty of flying off with her like this and found herself gazing at two golden eyes. Whilst keeping her hand near her gun in case she would need it, she cried out the rather predictable sentence: 'Put me down right now!'

"It will be much easier for me to make a safe landing if you would stop wriggling around so much," Hawkins pointed out calmly as he corrected his flight so that they would not run into a tree because of her near-thrashing in his arms. Why did girls always have to be so predictable? If they weren't flailing and demanding to be 'put down', then they would scream in fright.

He could misinterpret their words, of course, and either drop them from a great height or end them in some other way if they were too unpleasant. From the awkward position of one of her arms, however, Hawkins was able to postulate that her hand was on some weapon - probably a gun - which amusingly enough made him want to fly higher just to see what she would do.

The possibilities were amusing.

"I don't think I've ever met someone so ungrateful," he pointed out as his wings and thus their bodies tilted back slightly so that they could land with as little fuss as possible. Once they were on the ground, the white-haired male let go of her and held his hands up, palms visible. "There, reunited with solid ground once more."

~~~
The lack of wing-beats almost made him more paranoid than before but since they had never actually neared he was calmer than he could have been. Instead, Itsy continued breathing quietly so that he could listen for any other telling sounds. He could just barely hear the sound of some male speaking.
.: Ookami tried to sit up and there was a sharp pain in her arm that made her suck in a breath and lay back down. :.
"Nope that's not happening."
Alison gritted her teeth as the stranger called her ungrateful. She would have preferred it if he had just let her fall to the ground. She wasn't that high up in the trees to begin with...
As soon as the man had released her, Alison immediately strove to put some distance between them. As she saw that he had his hands up in the air, she rested the hand that had previously been reaching for her gun on her hip. She sighed and turned her head away. With a slight hint of annoyance in her voice she said: 'Well, I guess I should thank you'.
"I know that it must be painful to say," Hawkins pointed out with a wry smile and a shrug. Seeing as how she had taken her hand away from her weapon - it had been a gun, just as he suspected - so he carefully lowered his arms, keeping his hands visible but at least it didn't seem so much like a hostage situation any longer.
They weren't absolutely necessary and would only get in the way if something went awry, so he pulled in his wings, feeling them slip back under his skin where they were safe and nearly completely invisible to the untrained eye. Somehow, he didn't think that this snarky girl would accept the assumption that he was some sort of angel, but perhaps he could avoid those questions for now.
"Let's just skip all the 'I saved you - no, you did not' arguments since we know what happened and what didn't, shall we?"
~~~

There was a murmur of conversation just inside his range, but he still couldn't make out what it was about and while he was curious Itsy was also cautious. He didn't want to know if it would lead to someone's attention on him rather than elsewhere.

'And that's why I never bother to say thanks to begin with', Alison thought to herself as she clenched her fist in an attempt to control her temper. This man was really rubbing her the wrong way. She wondered how she could get rid of him a.s.a.p. Her sole priority was to get back home so she could collect her earnings and be done with it.

'Alright, here's a thought. How about you and I go our separate ways and pretend this entire tripping and flying thing never happened?'
